Socialization Exercises:
Let’s start with the family first. Everybody should begin by offering treats to the new puppy. He should be encouraged to come to you and sit to then get his treat. Children especially should do this.
Now you will also get the puppy used to being handled. This means handling everything; head, ears, tail, feet and tummies. Get him used to being picked up and cradled. Use a treat to lure him down onto his side, and then to proceed to handle him all over, giving him a treat every time you do this. Also get him used to being groomed and brushed. This is a fun family if done properly, it is important that this is a positive experience for the puppy and done under supervision of an adult. A bond between a child and a dog cannot be forced, this is something that will come naturally.
